We made Akilpo Home our base of operations for our 3 week trip to Peru. We hiked the Huayhuash, and landed here for 2 nights, then again 2 nights after, and again for 1 night as we explored the region. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is super convenient to everything and the breakfast hit the spot. Amazing how quiet this place is, just meters from a main thoroughfare. Rooms were clean, comfortable and peaceful. (Bonus if you’re in town during a local soccer match – the stadium is just across the street and tickets for the local seats were S10!) WiFi was fast and super-reliable.

Where should I start? We actually found this place through Reisjunk and we are glad we stayed here. The rooms were spacious, and the bed was even bigger. The room was clean and just good overall. A small improvement could be better blackout curtains, but that’s really nitpicking. Otherwise, the team that works here is fantastic; within 2 minutes you feel at home. They really help you with everything: what to do to get used to the altitude, which hikes you can walk, but especially the special tours they organize. The Panorama Hike to Laguna 69 is highly recommended, though it’s quite a challenging hike. With a super breakfast and a tasty lunch. And then our top guide Luis, what a fantastic amigo!

This is the place you want to stay in Huaraz. Don’t be fooled by the location: They built the current location off the main drag because it’s noticeably noisier closer to the center square. It’s run by three brothers Esteban, Benjamin, and (?) who are super kind and warm and very knowledgeable and helpful. Breakfast is more than enough to start your day off right. Great WiFi. Look no further. Stayed in May 2024.

If I could, I would give even more stars for the service. These guys are extremely helpful, have a lot of knowledge and go beyond expectations with information on potential hikes and how the acclimatise for our trip to the Huayhuash trekking (even though, we had to book the Huayhuash with a different organisation due to no group available in our week).

Akilpo is the perfect place to stay in Huaraz. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Also the Breakfast is very delicious. But the best thing about Akilpo is the staff. They are very supportive and friendly and they always give you the best recommendations for the hikes around Huaraz. We did the Panorama Hike to Laguna 69 with Akilpo (with Louis and Jorge as our guides) and it was one of the best experiences in Peru.

This is the best hotel in Huaraz. Incredibly comfortable beds and bedding, nice breakfast, fast and reliable WiFi, and extremely helpful staff. First of all, the condition of the accommodation is very clean. And the staff are so friendly and fun. You also speak Korean to some degree. I went alone and had a fun trip. Always friendly and the breakfast was just right and delicious, so I was satisfied! It is also linked to a tour, so you can apply for a tour even if you don’t go around.

Amazing 7 nights here! Cosy rooms, great housekeeping, we were going barefoot in the room! Got recommended with all the treks and have them arranged by Esteban and his team with no middleman fees. And the $/night is not at all more expensive than what we have been paying for the 3-4 hotels in Cusco!
Everyone staying there were saying bye to the team when they left and you could tell that they are truly very genuine, hardworking and personable guys to he forming quite relations with the guests!

A perfect stay that provided good rest and excellent hikes:) Stayed in the twin room for 7 nights which had an inviting interior and was meticulously cleaned by housekeeping regularly. It had the best beds and comfy duvets!
Esteban and the Akilpo team were incredibly warm and helpful with everything, especially on what hikes to go for based on our preferences. We enjoyed all our hikes, especially the panorama tour to Laguna 69 with our guide Luis! We felt well taken care of and had really good food for breakfast and lunch.

My friends and I were very happy with our stay at Akilpo. They let us nap in the lobby area when we arrived at 6 am from an overnight bus and were able to check all of us into our rooms early. The location is about a 15 minute walk or 5 minute taxi from the bus station. The hotel is located in an alley but is well marked and we never felt unsafe. The front desk worker spoke English well and helped us plan the logistics of our weekend. Breakfast was free and consisted of coffee, tea, pancakes, and fruit from what I remember. The rooms were clean and cheap. The beds were very comfortable and the showers were hot with good water pressure. The hotel was quiet even though there was construction work being done. They have a travel company that we booked our Laguna 69 trip with which I recommend as well. I would stay here again.

Akilpo Home. The only place you’ll ever want to stay in Huaraz. All of the guys who work here are incredible – super knowledgeable, warm, friendly, funny. Always up for a chat and more than happy to impart detailed information on hikes and mountains, routes and climbs. You can tell there’s a real pride in what they do and they make everyone feel welcome and like they really are at home. The breakfast is also really good. We stayed perhaps two weeks all up and it was very sad to leave indeed. We really hope we’ll be back again. Cannot recommend this place enough. Thanks for making our time in Huaraz so memorable!

Akilpo home was a wonderful experience for my friends and I. We arrived early in the morning on the night bus and the owner allowed us to check in early so we could get some rest. They also answered all of our questions and were incredibly friendly. The breakfast was amazing as well as the rooms. Such a comfortable bed and nice amenities. And when the hot water ran out because we were all taking showers and the dishes were being washed, they worked to get a backup pump working very quickly.
We also booked a tour with them for Lago 69 which was an incredible experience. We took the panoramic route up to the lake which provided some of the best mountain views I have ever experienced. They provided tasty and filling breakfasts and lunches, as well as snacks at every stop. The guides Luis and Aaron ( sorry if I misspelled it) were so knowledgeable and helpful. They made sure everyone was feeling okay with the altitude and the hike and even took a group back early who didn’t feel they could make it all the way. I would absolutely recommend 10/10 staying at Akilpo home and booking a tour with them. An amazing tour company fairly prized with lots of things included in the price.

Muy cómodo, lindas habitaciones e instalaciones. Estan construyendo un comedor en el último piso que estará muy bonito (y el actual también es cómodo y familiar). El trato siempre correcto y amable. Ducha caliente, wifi perfecto. Vista espectacular. La ubicación es muy cercana a la plaza. No hay bulla en la noche para descansar bien. Vendría de nuevo totalmente.

Si vous voulez un excellent endroit pour passer vos nuits et bien plus à Huaraz je vous conseille très fortement Akilpo home. Situé dans une petite rue à deux pas du centre, cest un endroit hyper silencieux, propre avec un petit jardin très agréable idéal pour récupérer après une bonne journée passé en ville ou dans ses environs. Les chambres sont spacieuses, possèdent de nombreux rangements, une salle de bain propre avec sèche-cheveux et un lit tout simplement énorme et très confortable qui vous aidera à bien récupérer. Vous trouverez de nombreuses prises électriques, éthernet et pourrez bénéficier d’un réseau wifi incroyable grâce à un routeur installé dans chaque chambre !
Si vous voulez nettoyer vos vêtements les frères proposent également un service de lavage rapide qui vous coûtera 6S le kilo.
Le petit déjeuner inclu dans la résa est le meilleur que j’ai pu testé jusqu’à maintenant au Pérou. Vous aurez le choix entre des pancakes ou des œufs brouillés et pourrez composez votre assiette avec des fruits frais, du muesli, des flocons d’avoine, du yaourt, parfois du gâteau et biensûr du pain fraîchement rapporté du centre ville.
Question boissons une multitude de thés et tisanes vous seront proposés même si je vous conseille le mate de coca pour bien vous accoutumer à l’altitude ! Il y aura aussi du café et quelquefois du jus de fruits frais.
C’est un hôtel géré par trois frères exceptionnels qui n’hésitent pas à donner de leur temps pour vous conseiller sur les restau, bars mais surtout sur les treks qu’il y a à faire autour de Huaraz. En effet ils possèdent leur propre agence de trekking et ne vous pousseront pas à faire les randonnées les plus connus seulement pour vous les vendre. J’avais pour objectif de faire la lagune 69 qui est une rando assez exigeante mais grâce à une rando à la lagune de Wilcacocha et une autre à la lagune de Rocutuyocq proposés par un des frère pour me préparer j’y suis arrivée !
Bref cet hôtel est juste parfait et idéal après les deux autres hôtels que j’ai essayé dont l’un était trop bruyant et excentré et n’offrait pas de réseau wifi, ni téléphonique à l’intérieur des chambres…
En tout pour une semaine à Akilpo Home j’ai payé 136€ avec les 3 treks, 2 machines, les petits dej et bouteilles d’eau inclus. C’est vraiment le bon plan de Huaraz !

조식도 여러가지 과일과 요거트, 계란, 빵, 차등이 준비되어있어서 너무나 맛있게 먹었습니다!
페루 숙소중에 이렇게 만족했던 숙소는 여기가 유일합니다!

Akilpo Home is an absolute gem in Huaraz.
Right from check-in (arrived at 6:30am off the night bus) the guys were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They let us in to the room early and allowed us to add a delicious breakfast at a very affordable rate. The rooms are exceptional with a huge, comfortable bed, a massive TV with Netflix (great after a days hiking), usb ports, a hot shower with great pressure and daily service. We also did laundry through Akilpo which was completed same day for a great price.
Most appreciated was the tailored and detailed advice given on suggested hikes. Despite research, we hadn’t even heard of some of the amazing places we got to visit thanks to Esteban. The Panoramic Laguna 69 tour through Akilpo tours is also excellent- experienced, supportive guides with comfortable transport and plenty of yummy food and snacks.

Wij hebben 2 weken in Akilpo Home verbleven en het was fantastisch. De kamers zijn ruim met grote bedden en binnen 5-10 min lopen ben je in het centrum. Het ontbijt is lekker en wordt bereid door Luis die altijd in is voor een gezellig praatje. We hebben veel contact gehad met Leonardo en Esteban over welke hikes we zouden doen. Zij weten beiden enorm veel over de verschillende hikes en omgeving en je merkt dat ze het zelf ook echt leuk vinden. De service is echt super! Ze kijken goed naar wat bij je past en wat je graag doet. Daarnaast zijn ze heel flexibel en kun je kort van tevoren nog beslissen wat je gaat doen (ivm mogelijke hoogteziekte). Ik zou deze accommodatie iedereen aanbevelen voor een top tijd in Huaraz!

Not only are the rooms clean, comfortable, and spacious, the breakfasts were delicious (and changed each day slightly), and the staff had amazing knowledge on the area and helped tremendously with our hiking. 10/10 would recommend. If we come back to Huaraz, this is where we will be staying every time.

In months of travel, this was the most comfortable bed I slept in. Beautiful rooms, hot shower, Netflix, great breakfast, hot water and coca tea available all day: everything you need while acclimatising to altitude. They let us check in very early after we arrived before sunrise on a night bus. The location is good, a short walk on safe streets to the market and town center, but far enough from the main traffic areas to be quiet at night. On a clear day you can see snowy mountain peaks from the rooms at the front of the building. 100% recommended and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Great place in Huaraz. Nice rooms, big beds, hot water, and very good breakfast. The owners are incredibly helpful and have so much patience explaining everything. We were in Huaraz during the rainy season, which limits the options for tours because many tours only go with a certain number of people. Eduardo talked us trhough several alternatives.
We did the Panorama + Laguna 69 day hike with Akilpo and the service level is perfect. Very good food and guide. Really recommend to spend the extra buck on this compared to the standard Laguna 69 hike. The panoramic views of the highest mountains of Peru are beautiful! And because you start earlier than most others you’ll have the lake to yourself!

We had a great time here! We slept two nights in Akilpo Home and did two tours with Akilpo. Both were fantastic! The staff and the guides are so nice, and they spoke English very well. Hay agua caliente para bañarse y además el hotel es tranquilo.
El desayuno es un verdadero desayuno completo con cereales, yogurt, huevos, pancakes, té y café.
Akilpo es también una agencia de viaje especializada en treks, hiking y climbing. Los tres hermanos fundadores – Léo, Benji, Esteban-brindan un servicio al cliente de excelente calidad, bien personalizado, con profesionalismo, tips y recomendaciones. Además, son super buenas ondas como los guías de excursiones con quienes trabajan. Akilpo, como hospedaje o agencia de viaje es altamente recomendable. They prepared us a breakfast box when we were leaving early for a hike, which was very nice. Also it’s very convenient that the Akilpo agency is located at the hotel. They can help you planning your hiking our mountaineering trip or arrange transport / taxis to the trailheads. Highly recommended!

This place is so great in everything. After hiking we could relax and sleep very good to wake up fit for the next hike. Also the owners are lovely. Hands down the best stay we had during our trip to Peru. Certainly, this place has so many 5-star reviews for a reason. The room is sparkling clean, the bed is super comfy, and there’s solid hot water not only for the shower but also for the sink, which is pretty rare in Peru.
What’s most valuable is that the three brothers and the team managing the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful. Everyone greets us when they see us. Esteban let us check in early when we arrived in the early morning, provided valuable hiking information, and helped us reserve tours or arrange transportation. Luis helped us make a last-minute reservation to Lake Rocotuyo, which turned out to be one of the best trips during our stay! Leo always struck up a conversation with me whenever he saw me. We also made friends with other guests during our stay.
Huaraz is a busy and chaotic city, which I’m not a big fan of, but Akilpo Home is certainly an oasis where I felt relaxed and comfortable when I returned. It was definitely a great stay, and I recommend it to everyone visiting Huaraz

Wow!!!! I cannot rave about Akilpo enough, they deserve 10 stars. Not only the nicest, cleanest and most comfortable place I stayed in Peru (and less than half of the cost of some of the other places), but Benji, Esteban and Leonardo are the most awesome, kind helpful and caring people I have ever met. They helped us plan our hikes everday, gave us amazing recommendations, organised all the logistics and went above and beyond any accomodation employee/owner/ manager I have ever met. The breakfast is also great, hot water in the showers, extremely comfortable beds and beautiful rooms. They also gave us a free room upgrade and a big discount for late checkout. I wish I could have stayed longer here, if you are in Huaraz don’t stay anywhere else!! Thank you for everything!!

We stayed 1 week at Akilpo and really loved everything about it. The rooms are 4-5 star hotel level, the breakfast is great and all people are super nice. Esteban and Benjamin planned the by far best organized tours we did in whole South America. Completely indivual and for a fair price with great guides (Walter & Leo).

This is one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at, and can’t recommend this place enough! (Actually, we had been recommended to stay here by a friend who visited huaraz 10 years ago when it was still a hostel! And we’re so excited that all these years later we had such a fantastic time at Akilpo also!!) We stayed here for two weeks, and loved it!! The rooms were large and spacious, and was cleaned immaculately every day. It was like a wonderful oasis in Huaraz, with a beautiful garden. Breakfast was also so delicious with fresh fruit, pancakes, eggs, and granola every day! The best part was the service we got from the three brothers. They helped us to organise activities every day and were always willing to listen to what we wanted, and cautious and knowledgeable about altitude sickness. It was such a highlight to debrief with them every day about how our hike went and to plan the next day. They were so passionate about the region and hiking opportunities! We missed staying at Akilpo and highly recommend to everyone travelling to Huaraz!!

Excelente hotel con buena ubicación, está solo a 4 cuadras de la plaza.
Pasamos 6 días con mi pareja y hasta ahora estamos sorprendidos por la calidad del servicio y las habitaciones que con creces superan a los hoteles de la zona, e incluso, me atrevería a decir que es mejor que Selina, y más barato también.
Nos atendieron extremadamente bien, siempre preocupados por nuestra satisfacción e incluso que no perdieramos nuestros buses o tours contratados, a pesar de que no contratamos con ellos los tours con ellos.
Cada día que llegábamos cansados, la habitación estaba siempre impecable e incluso se tomaban la molestia de ordenar algunas prendas.
El desayuno es de tipo mini-buffet y muy bueno con frutas de temporada, café, té, yogurt, huevos y más.
Definitivamente recomendaríamos a cualquier persona a ojos cerrados este hotel.
Cómo tip: llamen directamente al hotel y paguen por transferencia si tienen la posibilidad para acceder a mejores precios.
